Prenatal Depression

There is a major cause of depression in women and that are the pregnancy blues and the postpartum depression which occurs suddenly after the birth of a baby or in coming weeks or a year. As we are not always focussed on the depression that occurs during pregnancy, which are mostly known to be prenatal depression. But it has been surveyed that there is an average of 70 of 100 women which experience symptoms of depression during their pregnancy, so it is most serious thing now a days.

Prenatal Depression The problem with depression in pregnancy surely has an impact on the prenatal care, mainly in the nutritional areas and the other areas that are affected due to it are sleeping habits and exercise. The other not stressful reasons of prenatal depression are alcohol taking and cigarette smoking increases the severity of depression a lot. Some or all of the reasons in the prenatal depression are responsible for a higher risk of suicide. The most common and the savior problem occurring in this type of depression is feeling no attachment with the baby.

There is a common habit of ignoring depression in pregnancy as it might be supposed to be a happy time in the life for the parents of the baby, which also includes the pregnant woman who may suffer the depression.

The depressive symptoms of the prenatal type are very minor so they are not at all detectable generally in all the women who are affected from it but that can be actually seen in about 10 to 15 of pregnant women. In case of pregnant women, it is the hormones which are the only cause of the mood swings and other emotional as well as psychological disorders or improvements, but actually the hormones are not much concerned when the case of depression occurs during pregnancy is considered.

At the most one can consider the hormones as only the one side of the depression cause, as there are so many other reasons like the stress of pregnancy, low physical or mental health of a woman. Also the feeling of intensify if the pregnancy is complicated or unplanned or if there are family problems. Stress causing factors may be brought on simply because of sudden weight gain or loss during the pregnancy. In it the career changes f the parents also affect it as it causes stress and as a result depression in pregnancy occurs.

At the most one can consider the hormonal effect only the one reasons of the depression cause, as there are so many other reasons like the stress of pregnancy, low physical or mental health of a woman. Also the intense feeling if the pregnancy is complicated or unplanned or if there is family problems. Stress causing factors may be brought on simply because of sudden weight gain or loss during the pregnancy. The main solution in preventing problems that causes depression in pregnancy, which increases the likelihood of postpartum depression, is support and help as soon as one feels depressed. Those who are having this problem should know that they are not at all alone and medical help is available for it. Treatment in this depression during pregnancy itself involves several avenues like developing friends and helpful people network. Always be with the individual who feels depressed so as to increase the positive thinking in him. Continuous discussion with a psychotherapist and checking the improvements or problems occurring daily, mainly if there is a major change occurred during pregnancy. Medication is also used but only with the prescription during the course of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
